My friend Kevin sent me this email this morning:
I walk swiftly and run to North Station here in Boston most evenings to catch my train home. Occasionally, without a particular occasion in mind, I will buy flowers for MJ, my wife, at one of several places on the way to the station. But I hadn’t purchased flowers from the woman on the sidewalk near North Station.But one Friday I stopped by since I had a minute to spare, and purchased a bouquet. As I open my wallet I realized I didn’t have the necessary $15 but only had $11. I apologized and said I would take a smaller bunch of flowers. She said no and gave me the flowers and said pay her another time. She said she is there Thursdays and Fridays. I was very pleasantly surprised and had both a nice flower bouquet and a good story for MJ.
Next Friday as I was running by, I handed her a five and said what it was for – She smiled. She has a customer for life. Or at least until our company moves out of Boston in a few weeks.
